The room size for pool table area will depend on which size pool table you get. A bar size pool table will need about 12'9" x 16' of area to play in comfortably with any size cue. The recommended pool table size will need about 13'2" x 16'10" to play in and the 9 foot table will need a room area of about 13'8" x 17'10".

A standard room size pool table will fit comfortably in these areas with the use of a short or regular sized cue stick. Remember that the larger the playing surface of the table, the more challenging the game will be. Some people become so used to playing on the smaller 7 foot sized tables that they do not realize the game is different on a larger 8 foot table and they may enjoy a larger table and more challenge for their home table.

If space is an issue, remember that using a shorter cue may allow you to go for the larger 8 foot table instead of the 7 foot with standard sized cues.
